HR talent parade 2008

It was something i was 'made ' to attend. Imagine you getting a call at your place from the office of your college. Its obviously going to freak you out right ?. And on top of that , the call being attended by your mum makes it even more freaky. The instruction was clear : pay up for the pass or meet
the Principal ( Dr. Mrs. Indushahani - also the Sheriff of Mumbai ) .
So there i was , in a half-empty auditorium , imagining the torture ahead. But i was mistaken.
It all started with some 'delightful' crooning ( I'm being polite here ) though some of which were thouroughly enjoyable and sung with a lot of passion till one guy..who was so outrageous and wanna -be like, sung "paape pyaar karke " . At that moment i really was rethinking my decision to make the most of my 150rs by coming to this show. Suddenly the commute didn't make any sense and the day was ruined. But not for long.
The next round , that of dancing , was quite okay to say the least. The ones that stood out were -
the fusion between old classical and modern western dancing , and the ones with an element of the recently popular street style dancing.
AS they say ' the best is saved for last ' , came the uber cool , outstanding event that literally fetched the college the Malhar trophy ( an event hosted by St. Xaviers college, Mumbai ) .
I usually dont stand up and applaud any dance or item unless i really enjoy it or if I'm made to stand. But i was clappin , cheering , and had my mouth open in awe , thoroughly surprised at the unique concept hitting some young mind. The lights were switched off and the Ultraviolet lights were at play. The concept was basically that of "the son of the mask ' who had to do some tasks , pass some levels . but the was it was done was what left everyone surprised. If you're a fan of ;the mask " - the cartoon or movie series , you would know how he wears the mask that brings out a totally different side to the simple guy. With the effects and a little imagination , the way the persons face turns green ,the passing of levels ( by playing a mario kind of game ) , etc were 'out-of-the-world'.
The fashion show was like the icing on the cake with contestants being asked questions like - whom would u like to bring along with you if you were to be stranded on an island and imagine the crowd reaction when the contestant said " My mom ! " .The crowd went 'awwww..."...
on the whole a very 'fun' event and also a very memorable one.
adios.

Vroom....swooosh....!

BIKING

Biking or riding,

Is so much fun ,

So many bikes,

But Enticer is the one

Gr8 pickup

& amazing handling,

Wat a smooth ride

Leaving others dangling

The model is such

That u can rule the road

What an experience

Doesn't make biking a load!

Khans VS Bawejas

So , two newcomers on the block, both with a big launch pad - one backed up by his 'maamu' & the other by his dad. One has a refreshingly different style of acting , the other is loosely called 'a sad Hritik clone'. One's film is a youthful film about a group of college friends and their journey (a very succesfull formula considering the successes of Rang De basanti, etc.), & the others film is a sci-fi futuristic film set from 2008-2050 (the scrip was ready in the 1990s but Mr harry baweja though it'll be too early for the indian audiences).Indian audience hugely preferred youthful exuberance to futuristic but agonisingly slow love story . (my tip : the bawejas shouldve expected this considering the lenght n pace of the film n must've placed 'disprin' as an 'in-film placement' advertisement..it would be sellin like hot cakes..."1 strip free per ticket"..)
Maybe im too biased towards the new Khan on the block, but some moments of the film really made me feel as if im on a roller coaster ride...n man! the ride was thrillin...im willin to go again provided i get gud company..this offer is negotiable...but i also feel a lil sympathetic towards Harman cuz i relle found his 2 b skilled considerin the reviews of ppl who've worked on the film (he dances as if he was born on a wave :) ).
But not 2 worry, jes got lodsa offers with Anees basme , n also the backin n support of his family n sm reknowed directors n producers ..who still think hes 'investible' ...but let credit not b taken away from Imran.
Im relle lookin forward to the new entrants of the industry with Ranbir kapoor (bachna ae haseenois gonna rok! ) n Co...
lets hope for the best ...comments alwayz welcome..adios

Sarkar Raj!

Let me b honest , I'm not the biggest fan of the Bachchan family cuz of their strained relations with SRk (of whom im a die-hard fan). This was exactly what was on my mind before n while watching this movie.Little did i know what was in store for me.The power-packed performances relle left me stunned...& for the next few s i was literally talking like a powerful politician (ala BigB)..giving all philosophical answers to seemingly normal questions.
What i liked about the film is what ill focus on :
Big B (after juniorB's death) ..was amazingly powerfull..unlike in the first half where he was like any other old man watching his son take over.
Junior Ab was like any young passionate politician son
Ash was refreshingly gorgeous, & in the end provided a mysteriously wicked twist ( with the way she said " chai lana"..something different for some NRI whose not even remotely used to the cutting chai )
Ramu...what i liked about him was the way he showed the speeches of the bachchans - the one in their bunglow etc etc ..One of the best part was the one wherein BigB comes to know that his old friend (the village oldie) was the one behind everything..& the way that guy was shown laughing with power with the success of his plan ( yeah..like Ramu would sit and let someone make a mockery out of the bachchans)..
i would end by saying that all your comments on my view on the movie are welcome...so feel free 2 express! Adios.

Virgin mobile

Now a days, u surf channels n all u get are a dozen wacky adverts, the wackiest being Virgin mobile adverts .First one with dat young gurl doin something 'hatke' than the average teenager...telling her parents that shes not interested in boys. And this relle makes the viewers go " wat the hell !" ..and relle grips u for the first few times...and then starts the blame game between her parents allowing her a trip to Goa with her friends TenSingh (imagine tendulkars fine but tensingh ???) , the trip being labelled as "co curricular activities" by her father.
The second one is every ametuer riders imaginitive excuse at being caught for the first time..
having no money but a cell fone...his dada gves a damn n actually tells the cop to punish him harshly...but the poor cop..little did he know dat th 'father' was a teenage single guy with extra ordinary mimicry skills...
Virgin mobile is basically a UK based youth centric MVNO with about 15 million subscribers
and it has struck a deal with Tata teleservices through which it would get access to Indias network and could help TATA tel woth its customer service (call centres) and Virgin music!
Lets see if this is an new chapter in international companies tying up with Indian companies in the comm sector.

30 secs @ Dadar

I usually board a train from Malad to my college in Churchgate. This day (i din remember when) I was standin (gettin a seat is like a bonus now-a-days)...listening to my music..suddenly my attention goes to this guy who looks familiar n was callin out my name..(i cudnt hear him before cuz of my earphones-sony erricson)..ppl ..as usual...were rushin ..battlin to be exact.. to get out of the train without any physical damage n ppl outside the train r waitin to climb in..n within this 30 secs @ Dadar...i went through a roller coster of memories about this school friend of mine whom im meetin after like half a dozen years..y exchanged basic Qs like "what're u studyin"
b4 i cud ask another Q the train started...i went bak 2 listenin to my music...after sm time i realised wat those 30 secs meant..memories of a LOST friend.i sometimes still rember this incident @ Dadar. :)

Raced 2 the finish!

Talk about broken promises.....first it was reliance power (u bought it?) .n now most recent movie Race.
The 'wannabe' flm relle got to me....it was a film trying to b a hit but desperately failing at it.
Look at the starcast : Saif , Bips, Katrina, and others...the promos of the title song Race saanson kiii (which was a HUGE letdown when i actually heard it in the theatre) were bang on.Saif with a guitar...Bips with or actually without wearing too much ..got every ones attention. The kids were
dying to get a glimpse of the film.Little did people know that admist all this glitz and glamour, the film would lack the MOST important part of a film : the script. With the two brothers just double crossing each other (the twists and turns were something new to bollywood),and a 'foodie' detective (he literally ate every fruit available..including sugarcane...if u call it a fruit).I got a minor shock when i knew that Akshay was the younger sibling. But inspite all this...a dazzling opening sourted out the films way to BO success. After the star cast, the best thing about the film were its two chart busters : Race saansoo ki and Pehli nazar mein. Actually the best part of the movie (n this is strictly personal ) was the part wherein i bought popcorn n cola for myself.
At the end im happy i didnt watch this blunder in a multiplex and burn a hole in my pocket.
